On June 28th, Jacqueline Garcel, Chief Executive Officer of the Latino Community Foundation awarded a grant of $10,000 to The Unity Council. The grant is part of the Latino Community Foundation’s Nuestro Futuro Fund for Latino-led organizations that are equipped to provide legal aid, defend immigration rights, and/or support youth civic and political engagement.
The Latino Community Foundation is awarding $124,000 to 14 Latino-led grassroots organizations that provide legal services and advance immigrant rights advocacy in California. The majority of these grants are for the Central Valley (download Grantee List here).
The Unity Council is grateful for this contribution that will allow us to devise a longer-term offensive plan to uphold the core values of justice and equality. We believe everyone deserves self-sufficiency and advancement, no matter their language, background, or neighborhood, and that cultural identity contributes to a thriving community and is a tool to combat displacement.
