We are please to announce that for the second year in a row JPMorgan Chase Foundation has committed to funding our Workforce Development programs. This year, the JP Morgan Chase Foundation has awarded The Unity Council $100,000!
These funds will go directly to support our existing efforts to recruit, train and place limited English proficient (LEP), bilingual/bicultural and low-income clients in positions offering living wages, benefits and opportunities for advancement, in one of two high-growth career sector industries: healthcare and transportation & logistics.
The Sector Industry career pathways lay the groundwork for a job-seeker who is interested in a high-growth career but may be unaware of the opportunities available.
The Workforce Development team assists job seekers by:
- Developing job placement opportunities by working closely with employers;
- In partnership with employers and community colleges, we recruit, assess, and place qualified youth and adults in certificated training;
- Offering several career pathway options leading to certification in phlebotomy, dental assistant, medical assisting, bio-manufacturing technician, laboratory technician, and more.
This generous grant from the JP Morgan Chase Foundation will fund 20% of the workforce development department, and supports The Unity Council’s mission to help families and individuals build wealth and assets through comprehensive programs of sustainable economic, social, and neighborhood development.
