The Community Resource Center is the administrative headquarters of The Unity Council. Centrally located at 1900 Fruitvale Avenue, The Unity Council maintains an ADA-accessible space that is serviced by multiple AC Transit bus lines and is situated within walking distance of the Fruitvale BART station. The Multicultural One-Stop Career Center is located on the ground floor and contains a computer room, resource room, and offices for meetings. In addition, classrooms are located on the first and third floors of the building.
Services offered by The Unity Council from this location, in addition to the One-Stop, include a Head Start preschool, tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), and financial capability courses. Several OUSD high schools and middle schools are within walking distance, including Urban Promise Academy, United for Success, ARISE High School, Saint Elizabeth High School, Fremont High School, and Dewey Senior High School. In addition, Merritt College, which operates within the Peralta Community College Direct, maintains a satellite office on the ground floor of the building and offers ESL classes, enrollment guidance, and course registration. In addition to these resources, many of The Unity Council’s partners offer services and resources in the near vicinity, including La Clínica de la Raza and Native American Health Center (healthcare), Anew America (micro-entrepreneurship development), Centro Legal de la Raza (immigration and legal services) and Spanish-Speaking Citizens’ Foundation (immigration) and Brothers on the Rise (youth mentorship).
