El Corazón Apartments is a new affordable senior housing community being developed by The Unity Council in partnership with Self-Help Ventures Fund, a subsidiary of Self-Help Credit Union. Located on East 12th Circle in Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood, the six-story development will provide 81 affordable homes for seniors, including 77 one-bedroom units and 4 two-bedroom units for households earning 30–60% of Area Median Income (AMI). The community will also include 20 permanent supportive housing units for formerly homeless seniors.
Designed to support healthy, connected, and independent living, El Corazón Apartments will feature on-site Property Management and Resident Services offices, supportive services provided by Lifelong Medical Care, a community room, outdoor resident gathering spaces, common laundry facilities, secure bicycle parking, a rooftop terrace, and a fitness room. Conveniently located near the Fruitvale BART Station, the development will provide residents with easy access to public transit, neighborhood amenities, and the vibrant Fruitvale community.
