A Night of Resilience, A Future of Hope

June 16, 2025

The Unity Council has officially launched the Rooted and Resilient Campaign—a bold effort to close a critical $8.6 million funding gap and continue providing essential programs and services to the communities we serve.

This initiative comes at a pivotal time. Vulnerable, low-income, and communities of color are being hit first and hardest by today’s economic and social challenges. Rooted and Resilient is our response—an investment in dignity, safety, and opportunity for thousands of families across Oakland.

We extend our deepest thanks to John Bliss and Kim Thompson for graciously hosting our 2025 Summer Soirée and opening their home to help us launch this important campaign. Their generosity and commitment to our mission helped create a powerful evening of reflection, connection, and shared purpose.

Thanks to early supporters, we’re already halfway to our goal. But to reach the finish line—and keep our programs running, our doors open, and our families supported—we need your help to raise the remaining $4 million.

This campaign is about more than funding. It’s about people. It’s about standing strong for our community when it matters most.

If you’re moved to support this work, please consider making a gift today.
