Reflecting & Rejoicing Celebrating 60 Years of Impact »
Armando Hernandez
Armando joined The Unity Council nearly two years ago as the Director of Workforce Development. He then transitioned to the role of Chief Operating Officer, where his proven leadership and commitment to advancing the organization’s mission were clearly demonstrated.

Now, Armando is stepping into the role of Chief Program Officer, where he will continue to oversee a consolidation of programs including the Latino Men & Boys Program (LMB), Youth Workforce, Oakland Youth Engaged, and the Career Center. These programs, collectively aimed at enhancing educational and career pathways for youth and adults, will benefit from his ongoing guidance, fostering more seamless service delivery.

Before his tenure as COO, Armando co-founded and directed a Wellness Center in San Francisco with Instituto Familiar de la Raza. His personal commitment to social equity led him to The Unity Council, driven by the belief that addressing barriers to employment and financial education can positively impact housing, health, and overall well-being.

He sees the integration of employment, financial, and youth programs as foundational to promoting wellness, leveraging the expertise of in-house staff to maximize client benefits. Armando envisions increased collaboration among staff, resulting in enhanced services and outcomes for the community.
