The Unity Council Stands With Immigrants

July 12, 2019

After delaying his plans to launch a series of raids across the country, new information has leaked that the Trump administration plans launch ICE raids from July 14 through July 18 in the following cities: Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, and San Francisco.

The raids will target at least 2,000 immigrant families, including unaccompanied children who have “aged out” (essentially teenagers).

The Unity Council stands with immigrants and condemns these cruel attacks on families and individuals. These politically motivated raids are designed to create fear and chaos.

Immigrants in our communities should know their rights in the face of ICE, and be aware of the community resources available to them.

  • You Have Rights in your Home and in Public Spaces
  • Remain calm and don’t run.
  • You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to an attorney. You have the right to document ICE’s activity.
  • If ICE shows up at your home, DO NOT open the door, ask for a judicial warrant signed by a judge.
  • Do not sign any documentation. Don’t answer any questions without the presence of an attorney.
  • Do not show any false or foreign documents.

  • Permanece tranquilo y no corra.
  • No firme ninguna documentación.
  • No muestre ningún documento falso o extranjero.
