In May 2024, The Unity Council purchased a 18,900 SF multi-parcel site at the intersection of International Blvd and 31st Ave in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland. The site is currently improved with one vacant commercial building and warehouse directly abutting two vacant parcels. The Unity Council plans to demolish the existing buildings and newly construct a mixed-use project featuring approximately 58 units of permanently affordable housing for households earning up to 60% AMI. The ground floor will contain offices and three “flex” units to be rented to local makers who need slightly larger units to accommodate their craft. Additional onsite amenities will include a large ground floor courtyard, as well as a second-story tot lot and outdoor community space, laundry, a community room, and property management and resident services offices.
