The #NotOneMoreGirl initiative is a powerful, community-driven movement that centers on girls and gender-expansive youth, working to reimagine safety for BART riders. Launched to address the pressing issues of sexual harassment and gender-based violence on BART, this groundbreaking, youth-driven campaign is now expanding with new strategies to foster a culture of safety and support for girls.
Phase 2 of the initiative introduces 300 train car posters and 60 station posters featuring safety tips, as well as discreet bystander intervention cards. These cards empower riders to take action, promoting intervention and providing guidance on reporting harassment—all with the goal of creating a safer and more supportive environment for everyone.
It has been an honor for The Unity Council to partner with the Betti Ono Foundation, BART, and other community-based organizations to work on solutions that address issues impacting our community. We are incredibly proud of the role our Latinx Mentoring Achievement (LMA) program has played in advancing this important initiative.
Bystanders are agents of change, and #NotOneMoreGirl is a testament to the courage and leadership of our youth. Together, we are working toward a safer future for all.
