Create an altar for the 28th Annual Oakland Día de Los Muertos Festival

Hello Community!

Join us and create an altar for the 28th Annual Oakland Día de Los Muertos Festival!
We invite you to commemorate someone special, a group of people, or a cause with an altar of the dead. Altars are the heart and soul of the celebration. Please read the required components on the next page so that you understand the aspects necessary for each altar. Then fill out the form, include a drawing or diagram of the proposed altar, and submit it for consideration. Each artist will receive a small incentive of a minimum of $500 to offset the costs of the materials.

All participating artists will be required to apply by September 1, 2023, at 5:00 PM

–At the end of the event, artists are responsible for the disassembly and removal of the altar.

The Unity Council Oakland Día de los Muertos Festival will provide:

–A 10’x10 ‘space (about the size of a parking space) to create your altar. A tent and table will be provided for you, but you are responsible for filling that space with your creations.

–A stipend. Stipends are distributed to all artists on the day of the event.

**The 28th Annual Oakland Día de Los Muertos Festival is scheduled for Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 10 am to 5 pm in the Fruitvale! Our theme this year is Blooming Resilience.**

¡Crea un altar! Te invitamos a conmemorar a alguien especial, un grupo de personas o una causa con un altar de muertos. Los altares son el corazón y el alma de la celebracion. Lea los componentes requeridos en la página siguiente para que comprenda los aspectos necesarios para cada altar. Luego complete el formulario, incluya un dibujo o diagrama del altar propuesto y envíelo para su consideración. Cada artista recibirá un pequeño incentivo de un mínimo de $500 para compensar los costos de los materiales.

Todos los artistas participantes deberán:

·–Envíar una solicitud antes del 1 de Septiembre de 2023 a las 5:00 p.m.

–Al final del evento, los artistas se encargan de desmontar y retirar el altar.

El Festival del Día de los Muertos del Unity Council proporcionará:

–Un espacio de 10’x10 ‘(aproximadamente del tamaño de un espacio de estacionamiento) para crear su altar. Se le proporcionará una carpa y una mesa, pero usted es responsable de llenar ese espacio con sus creaciones.

–Un estipendio. Los estipendios se distribuyen a todos los artistas el día del evento.
