Call to Artists! 2022 Día de los Muertos Poster Contest

June 1, 2022

DEADLINE: Submissions due June 27, 2022 at 5:00 PM

We need artwork to be featured in this year’s Día de los Muertos Festival Poster!

A community panel selects the winning artwork for the poster. Panelists consider the artistic quality of the work, its ability to be reproduced as a poster/t-shirt, its relation to this year’s theme, and the connection the artist has to the community.

The art chosen is then reproduced and presented on billboards, t-shirts, posters, and online, and is seen by the 60,000+ people at the festival, and thousands more leading up to it.

Additionally the winning artist will receive:

  • A cash prize of $1500
  • A complimentary booth space at the festival,
  • and free Día de los Muertos merchandise.

OAKLAND artists are strongly encouraged to submit artwork!

2022 FESTIVAL THEME: Honoring Essential Workers

Our dedicated laborers and essential workers took care of us during arguably one of the most challenging times in U.S. history. We are honored to recognize Fruitvale as the land of The Essential Worker and remember the lives of those who served our community in restaurants, as custodians, nurses, farmers, cashiers and the many essential positions that made our lives possible.

It is critical we don’t forget these heroes and their ultimate sacrifice to our community.

Join us as we pay tribute and celebrate our Essential Workers.
