Today marked a significant milestone for the Fruitvale Transit Village as The Unity Council, in partnership with Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, the City of Oakland Department of Violence Prevention, local community-based organizations, and merchants, launched a one-of-a-kind satellite location to provide critical violence prevention, intervention, and healing services right in the heart of Fruitvale.
This innovative, community-centered approach aims to address and reduce violence, while fostering a safer, more welcoming environment for all residents. By bringing together key partners and resources, this new initiative underscores our commitment to supporting the well-being of the Fruitvale District and its community members.
We are hopeful that this collaborative effort will not only provide essential support but will also breathe new life into the vibrant Fruitvale District. We look forward to seeing our community members return to enjoy everything the district has to offer—from the delicious restaurants to the lively local businesses.
This is just the beginning of a new chapter for Fruitvale, where safety, healing, and unity will pave the way for revitalization and continued growth.
