The Unity Council had an incredible opportunity to take part in the Golden State Warriors victory parade in downtown Oakland on June 12th! The Unity Council was one of several community partners participating in the parade. Fifteen staff from different departments represented the organization in a bike-mobile float decorated with our logo. Staff from accounting, human resources, Community Programs, and Children & Family Services departments all rode together in the bike-mobile.
The best part was seeing the Head Start kids that attended the parade cheer for Ms. Bobbie Carpenter, Foothill Square Early Head Start Director, and Ms. Lisa Dennis, Head Start Social Service Coordinator. As TUC’s bike-mobile rode by them, the head start families yelled, “Hi Ms. Bobbie,” “Ms. Lisa look this way!” The families were thrilled to see their teachers in the parade, and the teachers were moved to hear the families cheer for them.
The Warriors Foundation has supported The Unity Council’s Children & Family programs since 2016. Thanks to The Warriors Foundation support, The Unity Council continues to provide Early Head Start and Head Start services to low-income families in Oakland.
The Warriors Community Foundation supports education and youth development to promote thriving students, schools and communities.
