We are thrilled to share the news that, in collaboration with No Immigrant No Spice (NINS) and the community, The Unity Council helped raise $30,000 for the Community Resilience Fund! This mutual aid initiative, created by the community for the community, will provide crucial support to individuals who are unable to receive government aid due to their immigration status.
The event was a resounding success, with our team proudly posing alongside NINS and the community to celebrate the fundraising milestone—complete with our ultra hi-fidelity big check! We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who sponsored, donated, volunteered, performed, and spread the word, making this achievement possible.
A special thank you to the incredible chefs @wahjeewah, @clandestinaberkeley, and @sacred_arrows for sharing their delicious meals and stories, adding heart and flavor to the event.
Through this partnership with NINS, the Community Resilience Fund will offer unrestricted microgrants to individuals in need, particularly those excluded from federal aid. The fund officially launches on June 15, and we encourage you to follow along for more information and access the referral form on the NINS website.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible—together, we’re fostering resilience and supporting our community!
