Bio: Tamara is a mission-driven executive who has purposefully focused her career on making a positive impact in one of the Bay Area’s most challenging arenas, by working exclusively in the affordable housing industry since 2005. During her career, she has managed or supervised 32 different projects in Alameda, Sonoma and Contra Costa counties. She has extensive experience with LIHTC and many HUD programs. Tamara is skilled in managing complex rehabs that include relocation, multiple buildings, and complicated funding compliance. Before 2005, Tamara worked as a Mortgage Loan Underwriter in Hawaii and California, underwriting home loans for Conventional lenders, FHA and VA. She also managed her family business in the transportation industry.

In her tenure with The Unity Council, she has been able to pursue and prove that her long-held belief that offering integrated, seamless services for residents provide them with the best chance to obtain and retain affordable housing in a crisis market. Tamara conceptualized and assisted with the creation of our Housing Clinic, and continues to strive for a Commercial Portfolio that also reflects The Unity Council’s mission, by promoting social equity, hiring locally, leasing and marketing to small businesses from the local community,

Tamara also is passionate about safety, preparedness, and community resilience. She serves as the Chairperson of the Unity Council’s Safety Committee, promotes annual Great California ShakeOut within the organization and is deeply involved with the Resilient Fruitvale initiative. Tamara also has experience with writing and applying for FEMA grants and other disaster assistance programs.

Tamara has had her California Real Estate License since 2008 and is currently working towards her California Real Estate Broker’s License. She is a Certified Occupancy Specialist, a Tax Credit Specialist and a Blended Occupancy Specialist. She also holds an Associate of Science degree in Electronics Engineering.

Tamara volunteered for several years as a docent for Point Reyes National Seashore, educating and assisting park visitors in viewing the annual gray whale migration and the elephant seal rookery. As a reunited adoptee, she also is a passionate genealogist and has supported many other adoptees in locating and reuniting with their original families.
