Chay Tadeo was born and raised in Oakland, with roots in the Fruitvale neighborhood. She was the first in her family to attend university, where she double majored in Gender Studies and Ethnic Studies.
Chay has a passion for reproductive justice and believes everyone deserves access to the tools and knowledge that allow people to make the best decisions for themselves, their family, and their community. She puts this belief to work at the Unity Council when she coordinates career services to support youth in becoming financially stable, achieving their educational goals, and attaining living-wage jobs with benefits. Her very first job was at a student bookstore. Outside of work, Chay is an activist and organizer for human rights in the Philippines.
