In addition to the Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival, The Unity Council hosts four traditional arts workshops and a community altar event on the weeks prior to the festival. The workshops are free and open to the public.

October 30: Learn How to Make Paper Mache Sugar Skulls with Daniel Camacho

All workshops are organized with the help of the Colectivo de Artistas de Fruitvale and coordinated by community artist Gonzalo Hidalgo

Community Altar Celebration at De la Fuente Plaza

Join the Fruitvale Bussiness Improvement District on Thursday, October 25th from 4-8 PM at the Fruitvale Plaza Park on 35th Ave and International Blvd. Oakland, CA. 94601 for an evening of Dia de los Muertos Activities.

4-6 PM learn how to make corn husk flowers and fun paint art.
6-8 PM Big Altar Ceremony with dancers and refreshments to share
